Abstract

Through an empathetic practice of listening to stories and helping construct new ones, Cristina Monteiro’s work brings new life to what was once overlooked, creating social ecosystems which enable communities - and the environment they exist within - to thrive. The DK-CM co-founder argues that creating better environments involves more than just designing new buildings, but to fundamentally reshape the ways we conduct architectural practice to uncover immaterial values within the projects being constructed.
